Mowing curb with two wheels on the street?

I was driving my car and witnessed a commercial stander mowing the edge by the street with two wheels on the street, unlike the picture I posted.. The deck was practically scraping the concrete curb, but the operator was just tooling along with no worries..

Is this how some of you mow the edge? Or is the picture below the correct method?

I saw a local outfit try that. Moron. HUGE noise as the blades hit the curb. Blade damage absolutely. Spindle damage, probably not, but maybe. 🤣
